Buying property abroad

Some tips before purchasing a property abroad:

• Check which legal guarantee is included with the purchase.
• Avoid paying in advance.
• Check local laws and regulations concerning the purchase of properties, taxation, inheritance etc.
• It might be wise to use a lawyer or realtor who has provided security and has a licence.

We recommend using a lawyer when buying a property abroad.

There are several realtors, with local offices, who are specialised in the brokering of properties abroad. If you use a Norwegian real-estate company, they have to provide security, and follow Norwegian laws on real estate business.
