About us and the network

Forbruker Europa (ECC- Norway) is the norwegian office in The European Consumer Centre Network.

About us

Forbruker Europa (ECC- Norway) is the Norwegian office in the European network of consumer offices (The European Consumer Centre Network: ECC- NET). The network is an initiative supported by the European Commission, and the Consumer Council is ECC- Norway’s host organization. We provide information and guidance to Norwegian consumers about their rights and obligations when trading across borders.

The measure will make it safer for consumers to shop in other relevant EU/EEA countries. If it is appropriate to cooperate with the ECC-Net, the complaint is processed in the country where the trader has his place of business.

The service we provide is advisory. We do not have any enforcement powers and cannot compel traders to take any action or accept our point of view. We can ask our colleagues in the country where the trader has his place of business to contact the trader or transfer the case to an Appeals Board. We also handle consumers cases from other EU/EEA countries on complaints regarding goods and services ordered or purchased from Norway, and we may transfer the case to an Appeals Board, or contact the trader ourselves after receiving a complaint from other ECC-offices. ECC-network’s services are free.
